Yucky winter. Please go away. I want to get rid of my winter jacket, socks and the sniffles. Let the daffodils, tulips and crocuses bloom. Green grass and warm sun. Okay. I guess what I am describing is maybe April, but probably May. And that is two months away. Guess I'll just have to make do with spring crafts.
First, here's a peek at two more things that I've put on Etsy. And check out my other blog Felicity Avenue for more info.
Okay, so this is a project that I've been working on for a friend at work. She's the lead teacher in my classroom and it's her birthday tomorrow.
First I started with 21 (that's how many kids we have) 3.5" x 4.25"** pieces of white cardstock and stamped "happy birthday" on each of them. Yesterday I snuck them into the kids' folders with a note to parents. I got a couple back today. This is one:
So hopefully I will get the rest back tomorrow!
Then I had to make something to hold all of the cards. I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock and did lots of measuring to come up with this box. It measures 4 5/8" x 3 3/8" x 7/8".
The back I trimmed a bit on an angle so that more of the cards will show through. I also scallop-cut the Raspberry Fizz Mix patterned paper that I added to the flap of the box.
Here's a close-up of the front. I used the new Beyond Basics Borders to add the design on the bottom and then the same birthday sentiment. That huge, honkin' button is just from my stash, but I imagine that PTI will be coming out with their pink colors in buttons soon!
For the closure, I really wanted to use the Basic Grey magnents, but I don't have them, so I guess that idea was out! I ended up sewing this PTI button on and threading some ribbon through to make a loop. It doesn't shut quite as tightly as I hoped, but it does the job.
I can't wait to give it all to her tomorrow!
**Why 3.5" x 4.25"? Well, this is the best way that I could get the maximum # of cards without making them too little!
