Solo Saturday

These are flowers that we got from my parents in memory of Aaron.

Harvest is Here!  Adam has officially left me for the fall. :)  Okay, so it's only soybeans right now, so he'll be home around 7pm, but once the corn starts coming in, who knows!  So today is my first day of solitude.  Got up at 9:30, with no alarm clock.  Sat on the computer for awhile, cleaned up some messes, made chili and am working on some cinnamon rolls.  The recipe said to mix with an stand mixer and a dough hook, neither of which I have.  So I kneaded it by hand and am waiting for it to rise.  The dough seems a little dense, so I'm not sure what will happen.

When I was taking this picture off of my memory card for the pic of the day, I noticed that I have a lot of projects to share.  I'll share one or two a day until I am caught up.

So these are "my" famous pumpkin cookies.  They are not really mine (from a cookbook) so I can't give the recipe, but every time I make them and eat one freshly frosted, I swoon.  They are my FAVORITE cookie.

Some applesauce that I made a few weeks ago.  We made this at the Y with the preschoolers and it was so easy (and fairly brainless) that I decided to make it for Adam.  It smelled wonderful when it was cooking; it tasted okay.  Probably will find a different recipe next time.

That's all for today.  Need to go check on those cinnamon rolls.

Off and running

Okay, maybe not running but at least exercising.  After work today I went to the weight room and used the elliptical for 25 min.  Since getting out of the hospital this spring, I haven't really done much.  First I couldn't do anything, then I was too scared to do anything.  Went pretty well.  It helps that there is a TV built into each machine, so just watch the show and forget that you are burning calories!

Y-Care this morning went longer (10:45) since the school started late for teacher in-service.  That meant that I didn't get to 4K until almost the end of class.  A few of the kids came over and said hello to me, a few gave  me hugs and a few said they missed me!  Even the teacher said she missed me.  It's nice to be appreciated.

Went to youth group tonight.  The peanut butter cookies that I made yesterday were  a big hit.  Also started to organize the supplies.  The room has become a dumping pile and makes me want to cry when I look at it.  Adam played with the youth band tonight.  Sounded really good but the bass was so high that I felt more music than I heard.  I only had one girl show up in my small group, so we just chatted.

Tomorrow is the "big" day.  I've really been doing okay.  Adam and I are going out to dinner, whenever he gets off work.  Yup.

Off to bed.

What can I say...

...I like change.  So I changed my blog style and now all of my OLD posts look like crap.  Maybe I'll go back and change them.  Probably not.  All that I really wanted to share today is my new idea for sharing photos (and getting into a routine of blogging).  I am going to at least try to post a new picture everyday, hopefully from that day, but no promises!  :)  I found these awesome overlays from Ali Edwards at Designer Digitals.  I am also using her calendar overlays from some Christmas gifts.  Started working on those today and they are awesome!  I'll show you sometime, don't think I have any of the recipients as readers.

Anyway, here is my pic of the day:  This was at a family friend's wedding last weekend.  Not sure why the pic quality is so poor.  Hopefully it's just the blog editor.

Happy Monday!
